Lumbra: keeps the Lambda look when updating to Moodle™ 4.5
Lumbra is a community and independent port of the Lambda 1.9 theme, adapted for Moodle™ 4.5.x and PHP 8.2-8.3. It is designed for platforms that want to update Moodle without redesigning their campus from scratch.
The problem
Many platforms with Lambda remain blocked in old Moodle versions because the theme does not work in Moodle 4.5.
The solution
Lumbra ports the visual base of Lambda to Moodle 4.5, with compatibility adjustments in icons, pop-up help and tooltips.
The advantage
It allows updating Moodle and maintaining a familiar visual experience: colours, sliders, typography, layouts and inherited configuration.
What it is for
Lumbra is designed for organisations that already use Lambda and need a practical transition to Moodle 4.5. It does not try to redesign the campus: it tries for the campus to continue to look like the one users know, but on a more recent Moodle version.

An update path for Lambda campuses
Lumbra's main proposal is to reduce the cost of an update. If the campus depends heavily on Lambda, a Moodle update can become an unplanned redesign. Lumbra allows separating both projects: first update the platform; then, if appropriate, redesign calmly.
The theme is installed as a standalone component theme_lumbra, so it can coexist with theme_lambda during the transition.

Installation
- Download the repository code.
- Copy the theme folder as
theme/lumbrainside Moodle. - Go to Site Administration → Notifications to complete installation.
- Activate from Site Administration → Appearance → Themes → Theme selector.
- Purge caches so Moodle loads the updated CSS, icons and templates.
